Atteindre la félicité ⦗274⦘

…au Messager d’Allah ﷺ, le salua et celui-ci lui demanda : « Quel est ton nom ? » — « Al-Ḥakam », répondit-il. Le Prophète ﷺ déclara : « Tu es plutôt ʿAbd Allah. » Il répondit : « Je suis ʿAbd Allah, ô Messager d’Allah. » Rapporté par al-Ṭabarânî ⦗1⦘.

651 – D’après Khaythama b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmân b. Sabra, son père ʿAbd al-Raḥmân se rendit, accompagné de sa grand-mère, auprès du Messager d’Allah ﷺ. Celui-ci lui demanda : « Quel nom as-tu donné à ton fils ? » — « ʿAzîz », répondit-il. Le Prophète ﷺ dit alors : « Ne l’appelle pas ʿAzîz ; appelle-le plutôt ʿAbd al-Raḥmân. » Puis il ajouta : « Les meilleurs des noms sont ʿAbd Allah, ʿAbd al-Raḥmân et al-Hârith. » Rapporté par Aḥmad, Ibn Ḥibbân et al-Ḥâkim, qui l’a authentifié ⦗2⦘.
