“The laḥd— the side-niche grave— is for us, and the shaqq— the trench grave— is for the People of the Scripture.”
From “Fasting”:
1 – ʿAmr ibn al-ʿĀṣ reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“The distinction between our fast and the fast of the People of the Scripture is the pre-dawn meal (suḥūr).”
2 – Abū Hurayrah related that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“The religion will remain manifest so long as people hasten to break the fast, for the Jews and the Christians delay it.”
3 – Layla, the wife of Bishr ibn al-Khaṣāṣiyya—may Allah be pleased with her—said:
(1) Reported by Muslim, 3/130–131; by the compilers of the Sunan; and by Ahmad, 4/197 and 202.
(2) Transmitted by al-Tirmidhi and Ahmad with a good isnad; I have documented it in al-Taʿliqat al-Jiyad ʿala Zad al-Maʿad.
Shaykh al-Islam comments: “This text shows unambiguously that the public prominence of the religion achieved by hastening to break the fast is due to differing from the Jews and Christians. Since such opposition to them is a cause for the ascendancy of the religion—and the very purpose for which the messengers were sent is that Allah’s religion prevail over every other—this act of differing from them is therefore one of the greatest aims of the prophetic mission.”

"اللحد لنا، والشق لأهل الكتاب".
ومن "الصوم":
١- عن عمرو بن العاص أن رسول الله ﷺ قال:
"فَصْلُ ما بين صيامنا وصيام أهل الكتاب أكلة السَّحَر".
٢- عن أبي هريرة قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ:
"لا يزال الدين ظاهرًا ما عجل الناس الفطر؛ لأن اليهود والنصارى يؤخرون".
٣- عن ليلى امرأة بشير بن الخصاصية ﵁ وعنها- قالت

٢- رواه الترمذي وأحمد بإسناد حسن، وقد خرجناه في "التعليقات الجياد على زاد المعاد".
قال شيخ الإسلام:
"وهذا نص في أن ظهور الدين الحاصل بتعجيل الفطر لأجل مخالفة اليهود والنصارى، وإذا كان مخالفتهم سببًا لظهور الدين، فإنما المقصود بإرسال الرسل أن يظهر دين الله على الدين كله، فتكون نفس مخالفتهم من أكبر مقاصد البعثة".
