Lessons derived from the verse:
1- Sacrificing to anyone other than Allah is major shirk, for He has linked it to prayer; just as the one who prays to other than Allah has committed shirk, so too has the one who offers a sacrifice to other than Him.
2- Prayer and sacrifice rank among the greatest acts of worship.
3- All acts of worship must be performed with absolute sincerity for Allah alone.
4- Acts of worship are tawqīfī—that is, dependent entirely on the command of the Lawgiver—as indicated by His words: “With this I have been commanded.”
