Lessons drawn from the hadith:
- It warns against shirk and urges one to repent from it before death.
- Anyone who, alongside Allah, calls upon a prophet or a saint—whether living or dead—or even a stone or a tree, has set up a rival to Allah.
- Shirk is forgiven only through sincere repentance.
