Overall meaning of the ḥadith: The Prophet ﷺ relates from his Lord, Exalted is He, that He says: “No one is more unjust than a person who fashions images in the form of Allah’s creation, for in so doing he tries to resemble Allah in His action. Allah, Exalted is He, then challenges him and exposes his inability to create even the smallest of His creatures—the ant; indeed, he is powerless to create anything smaller still, a tiny lifeless particle. They have no capacity for any of this, because Allah alone is the Unique Creator.”
Relevance of this ḥadith to the present chapter: it proves that making images is forbidden and that it constitutes one of the gravest forms of wrongdoing.
Points derived from the ḥadith:
1- The prohibition of image-making by whatever means it is carried out, and that the image-maker is among the most unjust of people.
2- Affirmation that Allah speaks.
3- Image-making is an imitation of Allah’s creation and an attempt to share with Him in the act of creating.
4- The ability to create is an exclusive attribute of Allah, Exalted is He.
