Al-Mulakhkhas fi Sharh Kitab al-TawhidSalih Al-Fawzan

and warding off its evil.

Overall meaning of the hadith: The Messenger ﷺ forbids cursing the wind because it is a creature acting only by Allah’s command; reviling it is thus an affront to Allah Himself and a sign of displeasure with His decree. He ﷺ then instructed us to return to its Creator, asking Him for the wind’s good and seeking refuge in Him from its evil, for such devotion to Allah—exalted is He—is the very state of the people of pure monotheism.

Relevance of the hadith to the chapter: It contains the prohibition of reviling the wind.

Lessons derived from the hadith:
1- The prohibition of reviling the wind, for it is a created and governed entity, and any insult rebounds upon its Creator and Governor.
2- Turning to Allah and seeking refuge in Him from the evil of what He has created.
3- The wind may be divinely commanded for beneficial purposes and likewise for harmful purposes.
4- Guidance to utter beneficial words when a person encounters something he dislikes, so that he may be protected from its harm.
