other than our present life; there is no life besides it. Some of us die while others are born, and nothing brings about our death except the passage of time and the continual alternation of night and day. Allah therefore refuted them, declaring that they possess no evidence for this denial beyond bare conjecture, and conjecture is no proof at all. It is incumbent upon anyone who negates a matter to furnish evidence for his negation, just as one who affirms a matter must provide proof for his affirmation.
Relevance of the verse to the chapter: Whoever reviles Time has aligned himself with these dahriyyah in cursing it, even if he does not share their creed.
Lessons derived from the verse:
1- Affirmation of the resurrection and refutation of those who deny it.
2- Censure of those who attribute events to Time.
3- The principle that whoever negates something is required to present evidence for his negation, just as the one who affirms must present evidence for his affirmation.
4- Conjecture is not a reliable basis for argument in matters of creed.
