Points derived from the ḥadīth:
- The merit of tawḥīd (pure monotheism): it saves from the Fire and erases sins.
- Mere utterance without inner conviction is not enough for faith, as is the case with the hypocrites.
- Likewise, inner conviction without verbal profession does not suffice, as with those who deny the truth.
- The Fire is forbidden to those who possess complete tawḥīd.
- A deed benefits only when it is done sincerely for Allah’s sake and correctly, in line with the Sunnah of the Messenger ﷺ.
- Whoever says la ilāha illā Allah while still calling upon others besides Allah will gain no benefit from it—like today’s grave-worshippers who recite la ilāha illā Allah yet invoke the dead and seek closeness to them.
- The ḥadīth affirms the Face of Allah in a manner befitting His majesty and greatness.
