Overall meaning of the hadith: This noble hadith contains weighty themes and truthful reports. In it the truthful, confirmed Prophet ﷺ tells that Allah, exalted is He, folded the earth for him so that he could behold all that his community would one day rule, from the furthest east to the furthest west—and events proved his words true, for the dominion of his community indeed expanded from the extremity of the West to the extremity of the East. He further stated that he had been granted the two treasures, and his statement came to pass: his community came into possession of the realms of Chosroes and Caesar with all their gold, silver, and jewels. He also related that he asked his Lord on behalf of his community that they not be destroyed by a universal famine, nor subjected to an enemy from among the unbelievers who would seize their lands and eradicate their ranks. Allah granted him the first request, and the second as long as the community avoided internal discord, division, and mutual hostility; when such division appears, Allah allows an enemy from the unbelievers to prevail over them—and this, too, happened just as he foretold once the community splintered. The Prophet ﷺ warned his nation about the danger posed by misguided rulers and scholars who lead others astray, for people tend to follow them in their error. He then informed that once tribulation and fighting break out within the community, they will continue until the Day of Resurrection—and matters have unfolded just as he said, for ever since those conflicts first erupted
