Muslim narrates—on the authority of Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him)—that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Allah folded the earth for me so that I could see its eastern and western horizons, and the dominion of my community will reach as far as what was folded for me. I was also granted the two treasures: the red and the white. Furthermore, I asked my Lord on behalf of my nation that He not destroy them with a sweeping famine, and that He not set over them an enemy from outside themselves who would lay waste to their stronghold. My Lord said: ‘O Muhammad, once I decree a matter it is never revoked. I have granted you for your nation that I will not destroy them by a universal famine, nor will I empower over them an enemy from beyond themselves who would overrun their stronghold—even if all the peoples from every horizon were to gather against them—until some of them begin to destroy one another and to take one another captive.’” (1)
Al-Burqānī also recorded this report in his Ṣaḥīḥ with the addition: “The only thing I fear for my community is misguided leaders. When the sword is unleashed upon them it will not be lifted again until the Day of Resurrection. The Hour will not be established until a clan from my nation joins the idolaters, and until groups from my nation worship idols. Thirty great liars will appear in my nation, each claiming to be a prophet, while I am the Seal of the Prophets—there is no prophet after me. A group from my nation will continue to uphold the truth, granted victory; those who abandon them or oppose them will not harm them until the command of Allah arrives.”
