Taysīr al-ʿAllāmAbd Allah al-Bassam

Glossary of Uncommon Terms:

  1. “fa’uḥarriqa” (so I would burn it): the consonant rāʾ is doubled; some transmit it with a single consonant, but the doubled form is more emphatic.
  2. “ḥabwan” (crawling): Ibn al-Athīr states that ḥabwan denotes walking on one’s hands and knees. It is in the accusative because it serves as the predicate of an implied verb of being, i.e., “even if the coming were to be by crawling.”
