prayers possess merit, yet one surpasses the other. This ruling concerns the person who has no legitimate excuse, whereas the revealed texts affirm that the excused worshipper receives his reward in full.
Second Ḥadīth
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
“A man’s prayer in congregation is multiplied, compared with his prayer in his house or in his marketplace, twenty-five(1) times. That is because when he performs his ablution well and then goes out to the mosque solely for the prayer, he does not take a single step without being raised one degree and having one sin erased. When he prays, the angels continue to invoke blessings upon him as long as he remains at his place of prayer, saying: ‘O Allah, send blessings upon him; O Allah, forgive him; O Allah, have mercy on him.’ And he remains in a state of prayer so long as he is waiting for the next prayer.”
Agreed upon, and this wording is from al-Bukhari.
