3- Washing the feet in wudu is obligatory. This is attested by a host of sound proofs and by the consensus of the ummah. The aberrant view of the Shiʿah, who oppose the vast majority of the Muslim community, the authentic hadiths that record the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) own practice and instruction to the Companions, and the clear analogy that washing is more thorough and purifying than wiping, stands in stark contradiction to all of this.
Hadith 3
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “When one of you performs wudu, let him draw water into his nose and then blow it out; and whoever performs istijmar (cleans himself with stones after relieving himself) should make them odd in number. When one of you awakens from sleep, let him wash his hands three times before dipping them into the vessel (1), for none of you knows where his hands spent the night.”
In another wording recorded by Muslim: “Let him sniff water into both nostrils and then expel it.”
