Some scholars have derived the permissibility of beginning the fast while in a state of major ritual impurity from the Most High’s statement: “It has been made lawful for you, on the night of the fast, to be intimate with your wives” (Q 2:187). The verse permits intercourse throughout the entire night, including the final moments just before dawn. When intimacy occurs so close to daybreak that there is no time left for a ritual bath, the person will inevitably greet the morning in a state of janābah. This is what the jurists call an implied indication (dalālat al-ishārah).
- The virtues of the Prophet’s wives, and their beneficence toward the ummah. They conveyed a great deal of useful knowledge from the Messenger of Allah—especially the household rulings that only they could observe from his private life. May Allah be pleased with them and grant them His good pleasure.

“Whoever forgets while he is fasting and then eats or drinks should complete his fast, for it is Allah who has fed him and given him drink.”
