Likewise, he prescribed for them to invoke Allah during this tashahhud and at other times, for he ﷺ said: “When you sit after every two rakʿahs, say: ‘All greetings are for Allah …’” — he recited it to the end — then added: “After that, let each person choose whichever supplication he finds most appealing.” (1)

I say: I ask Allah to make me one of those muhaddithun who are the people closest to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and perhaps this book is proof of that. May Allah have mercy on Imam Ahmad, the Imam of the sunnah, who versified:
The religion of Muhammad is transmitted reports;
Traditions are truly the finest mount for a youth.
Never turn away from hadith and its people;
Opinion is night, whereas hadith is day.
A youth may well ignore the trace of guidance,
While the sun rises, spreading its light.

﴿وكذلك سنَّ لهم الدعاء في هذا التشهد وغيره، فقال ﷺ:
" إذا قعدتم في كل ركعتين؛ فقولوا: التحيات لله ... ". فذكرها إلى
آخرها، ثم قال: " ثم ليتخيَّر من الدعاء أعجبه إليه " (١) ﴾ .
تعود إليك ".
قلت: وأنا أسأل الله ﵎ أن يجعلني من هؤلاء المحدِّثين الذين هم أولى
الناس برسول الله ﷺ، ولعل هذا الكتاب من الأدلة على ذلك، ورحم الله الإمام
أحمد؛ إمام السنة الذي أنشد:
دين النبيِّ محمد أخبار ... نعم المطيَّة للفتى آثار
لا ترغبن عن الحديث وأهله ... فالرأي ليل والحديث نهار
ولربما جهل الفتى أثر الهدى ... والشمس بازغة لها أنوار
