Asl Sifat Salat al-NabiNasir al-Din al-Albani
  1. The tashahhud as transmitted by Ibn ʿUmar:

He related that the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—said during the tashahhud:

“All greetings are for Allah, and all prayers, and all good words. Peace be upon you, O Prophet …”

(3) It was narrated by Abu Dawud (1/153), al-Tahawi (1/154), al-Daraqutni (p. 134), al-Bayhaqi (2/139), and al-Diyaʾ al-Maqdisi in al-Mukhtara, all through the route of Nasr b. ʿAli: “Shuʿbah related to us from Abu Bishr: I heard Mujahid report it from Ibn ʿUmar, from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.” This isnad is sound, as al-Daraqutni affirms and Ibn Hajar likewise states in Fath (2/251); it also satisfies Muslim’s criteria. The two additional phrases appear in the versions of al-Daraqutni, al-Maqdisi, and in one copy of al-Bayhaqi. Al-Daraqutni adds: “Ibn Abi ʿAdi likewise transmitted it from Shuʿbah as a marfuʿ report, whereas others halted it.” Al-Bayhaqi disagrees, saying: “Ibn Abi ʿAdi reported it from Shuʿbah as mawquf, but referred it to the Prophet’s lifetime, stating: ‘We used to recite it while he was alive; when he died we said, Peace be upon the Prophet and the mercy of Allah.’ Muhammad b. Ismaʿil al-Bukhari regarded the narration of Sayf, from Mujahid, from Abu Maʿmar, from ʿAbd Allah b. Masʿud, as the preserved version and preferred it over that of Abu Bishr. Allah knows best.” I say: It is possible that Mujahid had two separate transmissions: one through Abu Maʿmar from Ibn Masʿud—which has already been discussed—and another from ʿAbd Allah b. ʿUmar. I suggest this because Abu Bishr is reliable—both Sahihs transmit from him on the authority of Mujahid, and his name is Jaʿfar b. Iyas—so imputing error to him is not easy, especially since the wording is firmly established in the Muwattaʾ.
