Prayer of the Sick Person While Seated
Imrān ibn Ḥuṣayn — may Allah be pleased with him — said: “I was afflicted with hemorrhoids (1), so I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said, ‘Pray standing; if you are unable, then sitting; and if you are unable, then on your side.’” (2)
(1) Plural of basur (hemorrhoid). The word is transmitted with either the letter ba or with nun. With ba it denotes a swelling inside the rectum; with nun it refers to a malignant ulcer that will not heal so long as the corruption remains (Fath).
(2) Reported by al-Bukhari 2/469; Abu Dawud 1/150; al-Tirmidhi 2/208; Ibn Majah 1/369; al-Tahawi, al-Mushkil 2/281-82; al-Daraqutni no. 146; al-Hakim 1/315; al-Bayhaqi 2/304; and Ahmad 2/426, through Ibrahim ibn Tahman → Husayn al-Muallim → Abd Allah ibn Buraydah → the Prophet. Al-Hakim judged it “sound according to the criteria of the two shaykhs, though they did not record it in this wording,” but he was mistaken in claiming that al-Bukhari omitted it. Al-Zaylaʿi 2/175 and Ibn Hajar, al-Talkhis 3/285, ascribe it to al-Nasaʾi, adding: “If you are unable, then lie on your back—‘Allah does not burden a soul beyond its capacity.’” I did not find it in al-Sunan al-Sughra; it is probably in his al-Kubra. Ibn Hajar 2/470 comments: “This hadith is used by those who say that a sick person should not move from standing to sitting until he is completely unable to stand.” Qadi Iyad transmits this view from al-Shafiʿi, and from Malik and Ahmad. Ahmad’s son Abd Allah reports that his father was asked about it… (The words inside square brackets were omitted in the author’s draft.)
صلاة المريض جالساً

المقعدة. والذي بالنون: قرحة فاسدة، لا تقبل البُرْءَ ما دام فيها ذلك الفساد. " فتح ".
