Asl Sifat Salat al-NabiNasir al-Din al-Albani

When you sit after every two rakʿahs (units of prayer), say: “al-taḥiyyāt …,” and let each of you select the supplication he finds most pleasing, then call upon Allah with it. (1)

(1) The report comes from Abd Allah b. Masud, who said: “We used to know nothing to say after every two rakahs except to glorify (subhan Allah), magnify (Allahu akbar), and praise our Lord, whereas Muhammad ﷺ was taught the openings and the conclusions of all good. He therefore said: ‘When you sit …’,” and so on. It is related by al-Nasa’i (1/174), al-Tahawi (1/155), al-Bayhaqi (2/148), al-Tayalisi (no. 39), Ahmad (1/437), and al-Tabarani in al-Kabir (3/251/1) and in al-Saghir (p. 146), all through the chain Abu Ishaq – Abu al-Ahwas – Abd Allah. This isnad is sound according to the criteria of Muslim. Ahmad also records it (1/423) through Sufyan from al-A‘mash, Mansur, Husayn b. Abd al-Rahman b. Abi Hashim, and Hammad, from Abu Wa’il; and through Abu Ishaq – Abu al-Ahwas and al-Aswad – Abd Allah with the same contents. The version of al-A‘mash from Abu Wa’il (Shaqiq b. Salamah) is in the two Sahihs, the Sunan collections, and others, with the wording: “When one of you sits during the prayer, let him say: al-tahiyyat …,” etc. Its full text will follow below, no. 893, God willing. In its unrestricted wording it supports the more detailed narration of Abu Ishaq, as is obvious. I (the author) say: the apparent wording of the hadith shows that supplication is prescribed in every tashahhud, even those not followed immediately by the salam, and this is also the view of Ibn Hazm, may Allah have mercy on him.
