Asl Sifat Salat al-NabiNasir al-Din al-Albani

the bone to its proper place (1).

It is also the view preferred by Imam Ishaq ibn Rahuyah, for he said in Masail al-Marwazi (1/147/2): “The established sunnah from the Prophet ﷺ is that one rises supported by his hands, whether he is old or young.” See al-Irwa (2/82–83). Imam Ibn Hazm likewise recommended it in al-Muhalla (4/124), and this is the correct position, since no authentic evidence contradicts this sunnah; every report that appears to oppose it is unsound, as we shall show, God willing and with His help. (1) This is an excerpt from the hadith of Abu Humayd al-Saidi. It was recorded by al-Bayhaqi (2/123) and others, and we have already quoted it in full under “Bowing” (p. 605). From this it is clear that al-Tahawi’s denial (2/205) that the rest-sitting occurs in the hadith of Abu Humayd is plainly mistaken, for the clause is present, as you can see. Al-Hafiz pointed this out in al-Talkhis (3/488) and al-Nawawi (3/444) likewise found al-Tahawi’s stance surprising; his objection relies solely on another version of the hadith of Abu Humayd, which he and Abu Dawud (1/117) transmit through the chain of Isa ibn Abd Allah ibn Malik → Muhammad ibn Amr ibn Ata → Ayyash ibn Sahl. Ayyash relates that he was in a gathering with his father—who had been a Companion—together with Abu Hurayrah, Abu Usayd, Abu Humayd al-Saidi and other Ansar. They discussed the prayer and Abu Humayd said, “I know best among you how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed…,” then recounted the hadith; in it he says that when the Prophet ﷺ lifted his head from the second prostration of the first rakah he stood up without sitting. I say: this additional clause—namely the words “and he did not sit”—is weak, for it is transmitted only by
