Asl Sifat Salat al-NabiNasir al-Din al-Albani

and “he—peace and blessings be upon him—prayed during his final illness while seated.” (1)

“And the word ‘rijal’ is the plural of rāʾil or rajul; they say rajala al-insan yarjulu rajlan—when a person has no mount and proceeds on foot—so he is described as rājil, rāʾil, or rajul….” He then added: “Abu Hanifah held that engaging in combat breaks the prayer, but the hadith of Ibn Umar refutes him, and the explicit wording of the verse is an even stronger proof against that view.… Al-Shafi‘i said: Since the Prophet ﷺ permitted the omission of some pillars of the prayer in this situation, it follows that fighting during the prayer does not nullify it.” (1) Al-Tirmidhi (2/196), al-Tahawi (1/236), and Ahmad (6/159) transmit—through Shababa ibn Sawwar, from Shaʿbah, from Naʿim ibn Abi Hind, from Abu Waʾil, from Masruq—from Aisha who said: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed behind Abu Bakr while seated, during the illness in which he died.” Al-Tirmidhi commented: “A hasan sahih gharib hadith.” I add: it satisfies Muslim’s criteria. Al-Nasaʾi (1/127) and Ahmad likewise record it through Bakr ibn Isa (Sahib al-Basri), who said: “I heard Shaʿbah narrate it in the same sense,” but without the word “seated.” It is also corroborated by the hadith of Anas: al-Tirmidhi (2/197–198), al-Tahawi (1/236), and Ahmad (3/243) transmit it through several chains from Humayd, from Thabit—who said Thabit al-Bannani narrated to me—from Anas ibn Malik, who said:
