Its isnad (chain of transmission) is identical with the preceding one, were it not for the unnamed narrator. Yet al-Haythami cites it in his Majmaʿ (2/57) and says: “Abu Yaʿla, and al-Tabarani in both al-Kabir and al-Awsat, have transmitted it; the transmitters in Abu Yaʿla’s recension are those relied upon in the Sahih.” It is therefore possible that the anonymous narrator is actually named in those versions (*). Allah knows best. (7) Report of Ibn ʿUmar. Ahmad (2/92, 98) records it through Sharik → Abu Ishaq → al-Bahiyy → him. Ahmad also reproduces it (6/111) by another route through Sharik, who there hesitated and said: “from ʿAishah—or from Ibn ʿUmar.” Sharik is regarded as unreliable in his memorisation. (8) Report of Umm Habibah, the Prophet’s wife. Narrated by al-Tabarani in al-Kabir and by Abu Yaʿla; the transmitters are those of the Sahih. (9) Report of Jabir b. ʿAbd Allah. Narrated by al-Bazzar; it contains al-Hajjaj b. Artat, about whom there is disagreement, as al-Haythami points out in the Majmaʿ. (1) Sound hadiths exist on this subject: First: the report of Anas stating that the Prophet prayed on a hasir (woven mat). (*) This is indeed the case; the narration appears in Musnad Abu Yaʿla (no. 6884) and in al-Tabarani’s al-Muʿjam al-Kabir (23/ no. 821) with the chain: Khalid → Abu Qilabah → Zaynab bint Umm Salamah → Umm Salamah
