(continued) It was recorded by Abu Dawud (1/62–63), al-Tirmidhi (1/275–276), al-Bayhaqi (2/428), and Ahmad (2/239) through Sufyan ibn Uyaynah, from al-Zuhri, from Saʿid ibn al-Musayyab, from him. Al-Tirmidhi commented: “A hasan sahih hadith.” There is another chain: Ibn Majah (1/189) and Ahmad (2/503) relate it through Muhammad ibn ʿAmr, from Abu Salamah, from him with similar wording. This isnad is sound; Ibn Hibban declared it sahih, as cited in Fath (10/360). Ahmad also adds that, after the Bedouin had understood, he said: “The Prophet—may my father and mother be his ransom—came toward me; he neither cursed, nor rebuked, nor struck me.” Al-Bukhari (10/360) and likewise Ahmad (2/283) transmitted only the part about the Bedouin’s supplication through al-Zuhri, who said: Abu Salamah ibn ʿAbd al-Rahman informed me. Al-Bukhari (1/258; 10/432), al-Nasaʾi (1/20, 63), al-Bayhaqi, and Ahmad (2/282) then recorded the incident of his urination in the mosque, again through al-Zuhri, who said: ʿUbayd Allah ibn ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿUtbah ibn Masʿud narrated it from Abu Hurayrah. The same story is also reported from Anas through three separate routes: 1. Hammad ibn Zayd → Thabit → Anas, with the wording: “The Messenger of Allah said, ‘Leave him alone; do not interrupt him.’ When he had finished, he called for a bucket of water and poured it over the spot.” Muslim (1/163), al-Nasaʾi (1/20, 63), al-Bayhaqi (2/428), and Ahmad (3/226) narrated it through these chains.
