Mansur, from Salim ibn Abi al-Jaʿd, from him. This chain is sound according to the standards of the two Shaykhs. (8) From Abu Saʿid al-Khudri, with wording identical to the second report of Abu Hurayra. Recorded by al-Tahawi and by Ahmad (3/15) through the route of Ibn Lahiʿa, from Ubayd Allah ibn al-Mughira, from Abu al-Haytham, from him. Ibn Lahiʿa had a poor memory, and he is contradicted by the more reliable Khalid ibn Yazid, who placed the report in the Musnad of Abu Hurayra, as noted earlier. (9) ʿAdi ibn ʿUmayra said: “When the Prophet ﷺ prostrated, the whiteness of his armpit could be seen.” Ahmad (4/193) records it from Muʿtamir ibn Sulayman, who said: “I read it to al-Fudayl ibn Maysarah; he told me that Abu Hariz informed him that Qays ibn Abi Hazim narrated it to him from ʿAdi.” All the transmitters are deemed reliable, yet Ibn al-Madini related: “I heard Yahya ibn Saʿid say: I asked al-Fudayl ibn Maysarah about the hadiths of Abu Hariz. He replied, ‘I heard them, but my notebook was lost; I later copied them from someone else.’” Al-Haythami adds: “Al-Tabarani also transmitted it in al-Awsat with trustworthy narrators, and likewise in al-Kabir,” but he overlooked its presence in the Musnad. (10) Abu Humayd al-Saʿidi, in the company of ten other Companions, narrated the description of the Prophet’s prayer. The compilers of the Sunan and others have recorded it in full under the section on rukuʿ; al-Bukhari’s wording includes: “When he prostrated, he placed his hands, neither spreading them flat nor drawing them in.” (11) Ibrahim al-Nakhaʿi, in a mursal report, said:
