Recorded by al-Nasai; its chain is sound according to the criteria of Muslim. The second route: Khalid ibn Yazid related from Ubayd Allah ibn al-Mughira, from Abu al-Haytham, from him, that he said: “It is as though I am looking at the whiteness of the Messenger of Allah’s flanks while he was in prostration.” Recorded by al-Tahawi. This isnad is likewise sound. Al-Haythami (2/125) remarks: “Al-Tabarani also transmitted it in al-Awsat, and its narrators are reliable.” The third route: Abd al-Wahid ibn Ziyad reported: Ubayd Allah ibn Abd Allah ibn al-Asamm narrated to us, from his uncle Yazid ibn al-Asamm, from him, who said: “When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prostrated, the brightness of his armpits could be seen.” Recorded by al-Hakim (1/228), who said, “Sound according to the criteria of both Shaykhs,” and al-Dhahabi concurred. I note, however, that Muslim and others have also recorded it through several chains from Ubayd Allah ibn Abd Allah, from his uncle, from Maymuna—as mentioned earlier—so it is possible that Yazid ibn al-Asamm narrated the report from her as well as from Abu Hurayra; otherwise, the version supported by the majority is stronger.
