Asl Sifat Salat al-NabiNasir al-Din al-Albani

and he would give the same instruction, saying: “When any of you goes down into prostration, let him not drop as a camel drops; rather, let him place his hands before his knees.” (1)

(1) The report comes from Abu Hurayrah. It was recorded by Abu Dawud (1/134)—and, through him, by Ibn Hazm (4/128-129)—by al-Nasaʾi (1/165; and in al-Kubra, 1/47/1, King ʿAbd al-Aziz Univ. microfilm), al-Darimi (1/303), Tamam in al-Fawaʾid (fol. 108/1 = 1/289/720), al-Tahawi in Mushkil al-athar (1/65-66) and Sharh al-athar (1/149), al-Daraqutni (131), al-Bayhaqi (2/99-100), and Ahmad (2/381). All of them transmit it through the route of ʿAbd al-ʿAziz ibn Muhammad al-Dirawardi, who said: “Muhammad ibn ʿAbdillah ibn al-Hasan related to us, from Abu al-Zinad, from al-Aʿraj, from him, with this wording.” Al-Nasaʾi and al-Daraqutni alone add: “He should place his hands before his knees and must not drop down as a camel does.” This chain is sound: all its transmitters are reliable narrators found in Muslim, except Muhammad ibn ʿAbdillah ibn al-Hasan—known as al-Nafs al-Zakiyya al-ʿAlawi—who is nevertheless trustworthy, as affirmed by al-Nasaʾi and others and followed by Ibn Hajar in al-Taqrib. Accordingly, al-Nawawi in al-Majmuʿ (3/421) and al-Zurqani in Sharh al-Mawahib (7/320) remarked, “Its isnad is good.” Al-Munawi conveyed the same from some scholars, and al-Suyuti graded it sahih in al-Jamiʿ al-saghir. ʿAbd al-Haqq likewise declared it sahih in al-Ahkam al-kubra (1/54) and said in Kitab al-Tahajjud (1/56): “Its chain is stronger than the previous one”—meaning the narration of Waʾil that disagrees with it. Indeed, this report—even though it conflicts with that sound hadith—
