Standing upright after bowing and what is to be said in that position
Then the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—would raise his back from bowing and proclaim, “Allah hears the one who praises Him.” (1) He likewise instructed the man who performed his prayer poorly to do the same, saying:
(1) Reported from Abu Hurayra, may Allah be pleased with him:
“When the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ, rose for prayer he would pronounce the opening takbir (Allahu akbar); he would say the takbir when he bowed, and on raising his back from the bowing he would say Samiʿa Allahu liman hamidah (Allah hears the one who praises Him). While standing he would then say Rabbana wa-laka al-hamd (Our Lord, to You belongs all praise). He would say the takbir as he went down, the takbir as he raised his head, the takbir as he prostrated, and the takbir as he lifted his head, doing so throughout the entire prayer until he finished it, and he would say the takbir when he rose for the third rakʿa after the sitting.”
Related by al-Bukhari 2/216-17 (the wording above), Muslim 2/8, al-Nasaʾi 1/172, al-Bayhaqi 2/67, 93, 98, 118, 127, 134, and Ahmad 2/254, all through the chain: al-Layth → ʿUqayl → Ibn Shihab → Abu Bakr b. ʿAbd al-Rahman b. al-Harith → Abu Hurayra.
The additional wording is found in Abu Dawud and al-Bayhaqi. Al-Bukhari also records it muʿallaq from ʿAbd Allah b. Salih, from al-Layth, and with a connected chain at 2/230; Abu Dawud (no. 133) gives it likewise through Shuʿayb → al-Zuhri. Muslim 2/7-8, al-Nasaʾi 1/158, and Ahmad 2/270 transmit it through further routes from Ibn Shihab. Shuʿayb’s version inserts Abu Salama b. ʿAbd al-Rahman alongside Abu Bakr b. ʿAbd al-Rahman in the chain.
Numerous other hadiths confirm that the Prophet combined the tasmiʿ (Samiʿa Allahu liman hamidah) with the tahmid (Rabbana wa-laka al-hamd).
