during the night prayer.
The next morning the man said, “Messenger of Allah, I wanted to pray exactly as you prayed last night, but I was unable to.” He replied, “You will not be able to do that; I am the one among you who has the greatest fear of Allah.”
All the men in this chain are trustworthy except for this Abu Abd Allah; I have found no further mention of him.
Ibn Nasr also transmits, through Khusayf from Abu Ubayda, that the Prophet ﷺ used to say in his bowing and prostration:
“Subhana dhi-l-malakut wa-l-jabarut, wa-l-kibriya wa-l-azama”
(Glory be to the One who possesses absolute dominion and irresistible might, grandeur and greatness).
This is a weak mursal report.
Al-jabarut and al-malakut are intensive forms derived respectively from jabr (coercive power) and mulk (sovereign control); that is, the Possessor of power and disposal, each at its utmost limit.
As for al-kibriya (grandeur), some say it means majesty and sovereignty; others define it as the perfection of essence and perfection of existence—an attribute that may be ascribed only to Allah. —Sindi
