5. From Abu Malik al-Ashʿari: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed, and when he bowed he said, “Subhana Allah wa-bihamdih” (Glorified is Allah and by His praise) three times, then he raised his head. Al-Haythami remarks: “Al-Tabarani related it in al-Kabir. The chain contains Shahr ibn Hawshab; there is some criticism of him, yet more than one scholar declared him reliable.” I add: Ahmad also recorded it through this very route (5/343) in the middle of a longer report. Shahr’s narrations are judged hasan (acceptable) when supported by corroborating chains. 6. From ʿAbd Allah ibn Aqram: I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, while bowing, say “Subhana rabbi al-ʿazim” (Glory be to my Lord, the Most Great) three times. Al-Daraqutni transmitted it through ʿAbd Allah ibn Shabib → Muhammad ibn Maslama ibn Muhammad ibn Hisham al-Makhzumi → Ibrahim ibn Salman → ʿUbayd Allah ibn ʿAbd Allah ibn Aqram → from his father. ʿAbd Allah ibn Shabib is weak, and there are also narrators in the chain whom I do not know. 7. From ʿUqba ibn ʿAmir: When the verse “fasabbih bismi rabbika al-ʿazim” (Then glorify the name of your Lord, the Most Great, 56:96) was revealed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Include it in your rukuʿ.” When the verse “sabbih isma rabbika al-aʿla” (Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High, 87:1) was revealed, he said, “Include it in your sujud.” It was recorded by Abu Dawud (1/139), Ibn Majah (1/289), al-Tahawi (1/138), al-Hakim (1/225, 2/477), al-Bayhaqi (2/86), al-Tayalisi (135), and Ahmad (4/155) through several routes from Musa ibn Ayyub al-Ghafiqi, who said: “I heard my uncle Iyas ibn ʿAmir say: I heard …”
