ʿAbd al-ʿAziz ibn ʿUbayd Allah → ʿAbd al-Rahman ibn Nafiʿ ibn Jubayr → from his father → from his grandfather.
Al-Bazzar also narrated it.
This chain is weak. Al-Bazzar said: “It is not transmitted from Jubayr except through this isnad, and ʿAbd al-ʿAziz ibn ʿUbayd Allah is acceptable, though not strong.” See Majmaʿ (2/128). In al-Daraqutni’s wording the prostration is not mentioned.
3. From Abu Bakrah with the same wording.
Narrated by al-Bazzar and by al-Tabarani in al-Kabir. Al-Bazzar commented: “We do not know it to be reported from Abu Bakrah except through this isnad, and ʿAbd al-Rahman ibn Abi Bakrah is an acceptable narrator.” (Majmaʿ).
I note that this ʿAbd al-Rahman is trustworthy, as stated in Taqrib; both al-Bukhari and Muslim relied upon him. If the transmitters below him are reliable, the hadith is sound, and al-Haythami’s silence concerning them may point to that conclusion.
4. From Ibn Masʿud who said:
“It is sunnah that a person, in his bowing, say: ‘Subhana rabbi al-ʿazim wa-bihamdih’ three times, and in his prostration: ‘Subhana rabbi al-aʿla wa-bihamdih’.”
Al-Daraqutni recorded it through al-Sirri ibn Ismaʿil → al-Shaʿbi → Masruq → Ibn Masʿud.
Al-Bazzar also narrated it, but without the phrase “wa-bihamdih,” yet still with “three times” in both positions.
Al-Sirri ibn Ismaʿil is weak, as stated by al-Haythami and by Ibn Hajar in Talkhis (3/391).
