Asl Sifat Salat al-NabiNasir al-Din al-Albani

And Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said:

“My intimate friend—Allah’s Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him)—forbade me to peck in my prayer like a rooster, to glance about like a fox, and to squat the way a monkey squats.” (1)

He (peace and blessings be upon him) also used to say, “The worst thief among people is the one who steals from his prayer.” They asked, “O Messenger of Allah, how does someone steal from his prayer?” He replied, “By not perfecting its bowing and prostration.” (2)

—A mursal corroboration for its first clause alone—without the additional wording—is found with Ibn Battah in al-Ibanah (5/43/1). Al-Bukhari (2/218, 235), al-Bayhaqi (2/118), and Ahmad (5/384, 396) also narrate a similar version from Hudhayfah, but only as a mawquf report. (1) It was transmitted by al-Tayalisi, Ahmad, and Ibn Abi Shaybah. The hadith is hasan, as I demonstrated in my notes on Al-Ahkam by al-Hafiz Abd al-Haqq al-Ishbili (no. 1348). See also Sahih al-Targhib wa-l-Tarhib (no. 555). (2) Another version comes from Abu Hurayrah. Al-Hakim (1/121) recorded it, and through his route al-Bayhaqi (2/386): from Abd al-Hamid b. Abi al-Ishrin, from al-Awza‘i, from Yahya b. Abi Kathir, who said, “Abu Salamah told me,” and he raised it to the Prophet. Al-Hakim declared its chain sound, and al-Dhahabi concurred. I note that Abd al-Hamid—i.e., Ibn Habib b. Abi al-Ishrin—is a transmitter about whom opinions differ; al-Taqrib describes him as “reliable, though prone to occasional error.” Accordingly, the hadith is judged hasan.
