“trustworthy, though he has some weakness.” 2. As for the report of Anas, al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Saghir (p. 9) through Muhammad b. Thabit al-Bunani, from his father, from Anas, with a similar wording. Muhammad b. Thabit is classified as weak—so in Majmaʿ al-Zawaid (2/123) and in al-Taqrib—and al-Talkhis (3/377) likewise rules: “Its chain is weak.” 3. As for the report of ʿAbd Allah b. ʿAbbas, al-Tabarani narrated it in al-Kabir with the wording: “When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ bowed he was level; were water poured on his back, it would stay in place.” Abu Yaʿla transmitted it as well. Majmaʿ al-Zawaid comments: “Its narrators are reliable,” while Ibn Hajar concludes, “Its chain is weak.” 4. As for the report of Abu Barza, al-Tabarani included it in both al-Kabir and al-Awsat. According to Majmaʿ al-Zawaid, its transmitters are trustworthy, and Ibn Hajar adds: “Al-Tabarani also brought it in al-Kabir from Abu Masʿud ʿUqba b. ʿAmr and from Abu Barza al-Aslami, and each chain is hasan (fair).” I would add that there is also a narration from Wabisa b. Maʿbad, recorded by Ibn Majah (1/285). It contains a narrator who is very weak, Talha b. Zayd, whom Ahmad and ʿAli b. al-Madini accused of fabrication. In sum, when all these routes are considered together, the hadith is sound and well established.
