Ibn Majah (1/284) transmits it through Ibrahim b. Tahman → Abu al-Zubayr → him. Al-Zawaid remarks: “Its transmitters are reliable,” a judgement repeated by al-Hafiz in al-Diraya (p. 86). I add: all of them are narrators found in the two Sahihs. In Nasb al-Raya (1/414–415) we read: “Al-Bayhaqi also cites it in al-Khilafiyat through Sufyan al-Thawri from Abu al-Zubayr, and again through Ibrahim b. Tahman. Thus Ibn Tahman narrated it in this form, and he is corroborated by Ziyad b. Suqa. The hadith is authentic; every narrator in its chain is trustworthy.” Nevertheless, Abu al-Zubayr was a mudallis and here relates by means of an ambiguous ‘an’; for that reason al-Hafiz limited himself to the statement “its men are trustworthy” without expressly authenticating the report—unless, in one of al-Bayhaqi’s routes, Abu al-Zubayr declares “I heard.” Allah knows best.
Eighth: From Abu Musa al-Ashari: “Shall I show you the prayer of the Messenger of Allah? He pronounced the opening takbir, raising his hands; then he pronounced the takbir and raised his hands for the bowing. When he said, ‘Allah hears the one who praises Him,’ he again raised his hands. Do likewise, but do not raise them between the two prostrations.”
Al-Darqutni (p. 109) records it via al-Nadr b. Shumayl and Zayd b. Hubab → Hammad b. Salama → al-Azraq b. Qays → Hittan b. Abd Allah → Abu Musa.
This chain is sound. Both al-Nadr and Zayd relate it from Hammad in the marfu (prophetic) form, whereas Ibn al-Mubarak transmitted it from Hammad in the mawquf form, stopping with Abu Musa. Al-Bayhaqi also reports the latter, as noted in Nasb al-Raya (1/415).
