Asl Sifat Salat al-NabiNasir al-Din al-Albani

And at other times he would recite in the first rakʿah: “Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High” (87: 19), and in the second: “Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming Event?” (88: 26). (2)

(1) Al-Sindi comments: “The apparent variation should be understood as evidence that every one of these practices is permissible and recommended; the Prophet sometimes did this and sometimes that, so the hadiths in this chapter are not contradictory.” Ibn al-Qayyim (1/144) adds: “All of these recitations are soundly established from him. What is not recommended is to read only part of each surah, or to repeat the same surah in both rakʿahs; that contravenes the sunnah, yet some ignorant imams persist in it.” (2) Muslim (3/15–16), Abu Dawud (1/175), Nasai (1/210, 232), Tirmidhi (2/413), Darimi (1/368, 376–377), Tahawi (1/240), Tiyalisi (107), and Ahmad (4/273, 276–277) all narrate—through several chains—from Ibrahim b. Muhammad b. al-Muntashir, from his father, from Habib b. Salim, the freedman of al-Nuʿman b. Bashir, from al-Nuʿman himself: “The Messenger of Allah used to recite in the two ʿid prayers and in the Friday prayer: Sabbih isma rabbika al-aʿla (Surah al-Aʿla) and Hal ataka hadith al-Ghashiyah (Surah al-Ghashiyah).” He further said: “When the ʿid and Friday fall on the same day, he would recite these two surahs in both prayers as well.” The wording is Muslim’s. Ahmad (4/271) also reports it from his teacher Sufyan b. ʿUyaynah, from Ibrahim b. Muhammad, but lengthens the chain: “from Habib b. Salim, from his father, from al-Nuʿman b. Bashir.” ʿAbd Allah b. Ahmad remarked: “Habib b. Salim heard it directly from al-Nuʿman—he was his scribe—so Sufyan is mistaken when he says ‘Habib b. Salim from his father’; he actually heard it from al-Nuʿman.” Tirmidhi said:
