Asl Sifat Salat al-NabiNasir al-Din al-Albani

and at times he would recite in each rakʿah the equivalent of about fifty verses, or even more (1).

and there is a mawquf report from Ibn ʿUmar with a weak chain in al-Mustadrak (1/555-556). (1) Al-Tabarani records it in al-Kabir within a lengthy narration from Ibn ʿAbbas describing the Prophet’s night prayer, where it says: he performed four rakʿahs, reciting about fifty verses in each rakʿah, lengthening both the rukuʿ (bowing) and the sujud (prostration)… and so on. Its chain contains ʿAtaʾ ibn Muslim al-Khuffaf. Al-Haythami (2/276) remarks: “Ibn Hibban declared him reliable, but others judged him weak. He was a pious man; however, he buried his books, so his narrations are not firmly established.” In al-Taqrib he is described as “truthful but frequently mistaken.” I say: this specific portion of his report is nevertheless sound, for it is supported by Aʾishah’s hadith. Al-Bukhari (3/6), Abu Dawud (1/209-210), al-Nasaʾi (1/252), al-Darimi (1/344), Ibn Majah (1/410), and Ahmad (6/215, 248) all transmit it through the route of al-Zuhri, who said that ʿUrwah related to him from her: “The Messenger of Allah used to pray eleven rakʿahs; that was his regular prayer. In each prostration he would remain as long as it takes one of you to recite fifty verses before lifting his head…” If his prostration lasted the time needed to recite fifty verses, then his standing must have been at least that long, if not longer, because his sujud was never lengthier than his qiyam (standing), as becomes clear from an inductive study of his practice, as Ibn Hajar notes in Fath (3/14):
