Asl Sifat Salat al-NabiNasir al-Din al-Albani

and: “He used to recite each night Surah al-Isrāʾ (17:111) and Surah az-Zumar (39:75).” (1)

Al-Tabarani also relates it in al-Kabir. In its chain is Yahya ibn Uqba ibn Abi al-Ayzar, and he is weak. I add: al-Darimi likewise transmitted it from Habib ibn Ubayd, who said, “I heard Abu Umama say …,” and he recorded it as a mawquf report. Despite that, it carries the legal force of a marfu narration, and its isnad is sound according to Muslim’s criterion. Al-Darimi then narrated it mawquf from Ibn Umar as well—with the wording “al-faizun” (“those who are successful”)—and all its transmitters are those accepted by Muslim. (1) It is also narrated from Aisha , who said: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would fast until we said, ‘He is not going to break his fast,’ and he would refrain from fasting until we said, ‘He is not going to fast.’ And he would recite …” and so on. Ahmad (6/122) and Ibn Nasr (no. 69)—the latter includes the additional wording—transmitted it through Hammad ibn Zayd → Marwan Abu Lubaba al-Aqili → from her. This chain is authentic; its transmitters are trustworthy, as al-Haythami notes (2/272). Ibn al-Sunni (no. 218) reported it without mentioning fasting, and al-Maqdisi included it in al-Mukhtara via Ahmad’s route. The more probable scenario is that the Prophet ﷺ recited those verses during prayer; hence al-Haythami filed the narration in Majmaʿ al-Zawaid under the chapter “The Prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.” It is, however, possible that the recitation occurred outside the prayer. The first view is favored because the report couples the recitation with fasting, which suggests that Aisha was referring to his prayer. Allah knows best.
