Asl Sifat Salat al-NabiNasir al-Din al-Albani

…

I have since located another chain for the same report, which I had cited under “Tasbih in Bowing”; it should be inserted here (*). The second hadith is narrated by Ibn Abbas, who said: “I spent the night with my maternal aunt Maymuna. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ suddenly awoke, fetched some water, performed wudu, and then recited: ‘Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth…’ to the end of the surah. He next began al-Baqarah and recited it verse by verse until he completed it, after which he bowed….” The report continues: “He then rose and, in the second rakʿah, recited Al Imran….” It also says: “He lay down, then rose abruptly and did the same as in the first two times, reciting verse by verse until he had prayed eight rakʿahs, lying down between every two….” (*) The Shaykh—may Allah have mercy on him—adds there (p. 665): “ …I have discovered another route for this hadith in Ibn Nasr (no. 76). He transmits it through Ibn Jurayj, who said: Al-Walid ibn Abd Allah ibn Abi Mugith informed me that he heard Abu Abd Allah ibn Nuhayla—a man regarded favorably by al-Walid ibn Abd al-Malik—say: ‘A man from the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ once prayed behind him—that is, behind the Prophet ﷺ—and he recited Surah al-Baqarah…’ The rest of the wording is similar, and in it the man said the next morning, ‘O Prophet of Allah, I intended to follow your prayer but I could not!’ He replied, ‘You will not be able; I am the one who fears Allah most.’ All of the narrators are reliable except for this Abu Abd Allah; I have found no one who mentions him. Ibn Nasr also reports, through Khusayf from Abu Ubayda, that the Prophet ﷺ used to say in his bowing and prostration: ‘Subhana dhi l-malakut wa l-jabarut wa l-kibriyaʾ wa l-ʿaẓama’ (Glory be to the Possessor of dominion, omnipotence, magnificence, and majesty). This chain is mursal and therefore weak.”
