(1) Narrated by Hafsah bint Umar (may Allah be pleased with her): “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray the two Fajr sunnah rakʿahs in my house before the obligatory dawn prayer, and he performed them very briefly.” Imam Ahmad recorded it with this wording (6/285) through Ibn Ishaq, who said: “Nafiʿ narrated to me from Ibn Umar from her.” The chain is sound. The same report appears in al-Bukhari (3/39), Muslim (2/159), al-Nasai (1/67; 253–254), al-Darimi (1/336), Ibn Majah (1/350), al-Tahawi (1/175), al-Bayhaqi (2/481), and again in Ahmad (6/283–284) through other routes from Nafiʿ, though without the word “very.” Al-Bukhari (2/86–87; 3/35), Muslim, Abu Dawud (1/198), al-Nasai, and Ahmad (6/34; 74; 83; 85; 103; 117; 132; 143; 167; 178; 215; 230) likewise transmit it through chains from Urwah on the authority of Aishah with similar wording. (2) Reported by al-Bukhari (3/35–36), Muslim (2/159–160), Abu Dawud (1/197), al-Nasai (1/121), al-Tahawi (1/175), and Ahmad (6/164; 235) via Yahya ibn Said, from Muhammad ibn Abd al-Rahman, from Amrah, from Aishah, who said: “The Prophet ﷺ would shorten the two rakʿahs that precede the dawn prayer so much that I would say…”—and she completed the narration.
