also by al-Tirmidhi (2/398), who declared the report “hasan sahih”; and by Ibn Majah, al-Tahawi (1/241), al-Bayhaqi, al-Tayalisi (p. 343), and Ahmad (1/328, 340, 354), all of them through the chain of Mukhawwal ibn Rashid—Muslim al-Batin—Saʿid ibn Jubayr—from him. Abu Ishaq likewise narrated it from Muslim al-Batin; this version is in Ahmad (1/354). ʿAzrah also narrated it from Saʿid ibn Jubayr; recorded by al-Tahawi (1/241) and Ahmad (1/334). Sharik transmitted it from Abu Ishaq, from Saʿid, omitting Muslim al-Batin; this route appears in al-Tahawi, al-Tayalisi, and Ahmad (1/272, 307, 316). Ahmad further reported it (1/272) from Sharik, from Abu Ishaq, from Abu al-Ahwas, who said: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ …,” relating it as a mursal report. This is one of Sharik’s confusions, for his memory was unreliable. Al-Tirmidhi and others also narrated it from him through Mukhawwal ibn Rashid, with an additional wording that will be cited under “The Friday Prayer” (p. 546). The third hadith: from Ibn Masʿud. It is reported by Ibn Majah and by al-Tabarani in both al-Kabir and al-Saghir (pp. 184, 206) along two chains from Abu al-Ahwas, from him, with similar wording. Its chain is sound, as stated in al-Zawaʾid; al-Saghir adds the phrase “… he used to do that regularly.” Al-Hafiz said (2/302): “All of its transmitters are trustworthy, but Abu Hatim held that it is mursal.”
