Asl Sifat Salat al-NabiNasir al-Din al-Albani

and on certain occasions he would lead them in it with Sura al-Saffat (37:182). (1)

(1/205); al-Bayhaqi (2/60, 389); and Ahmad (3/411) also transmit it through several chains that all go back to a single narrator—Muhammad ibn ‘Abbad ibn Ja‘far. He is the one who voiced the uncertainty, though some of his transmissions are free of it. Al-Bukhari recorded the report in mu‘allaq form, saying (2/203), “It is related from ‘Abd Allah ibn al-Sa’ib,” and Ibn Ḥajar notes that the chains differ. He then adds: “Al-Bukhari used the tentative wording ‘it is related’ because of this variance, even though the isnad is strong enough to serve as proof.” The report is also cited in Irwaʾ al-Ghalil (no. 397). (1) A supporting narration comes from Ibn ‘Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would command us to keep the prayer short, yet he would lead us at the dawn prayer with Surat al-Saffat.” Reported by Ahmad (2/40) and Abu Ya‘la (5/42, no. 5422) through Yazid ibn Harun, who said: Ibn Abi Dhiʾb told us, from al-Harith ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman, from Salim ibn ‘Abd Allah, from his father. The chain is sound: all its transmitters are found in the two Sahihs except al-Harith ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman al-Qurashi al-‘Amiri, who is trustworthy, even though no one besides Ibn Abi Dhiʾb narrated from him, as al-Hakim Abu Ahmad and others observe. Ahmad said, “I see nothing wrong with him.” Al-Nasaʾi declared, “He is unobjectionable.” Ibn Maʿin stated, “He is well known.” Ibn Ḥibban listed him among the reliable and wrote, “He campaigned alongside a group of Companions.” Hence al-Dhahabi in al-Mizan and Ibn Ḥajar in al-Taqrib both graded him “truthful (saduq).” Al-Tayalisi (250) also followed Ibn Abi Dhiʾb in narrating it, though he was unsure about Ibn Abi Dhiʾb’s shaykh.
