Asl Sifat Salat al-NabiNasir al-Din al-Albani

and he would occasionally recite, “Qāf. By the Glorious Quran” (50:45) and similar passages in the first rak‘ah. (1)

in al-Bukhari (pp. 381–382), through Hisham → Urwah → Umm Salamah: The Messenger of Allah, while in Makka and about to depart, whereas Umm Salamah had not yet circumambulated the Kaaba and also wished to leave, said to her: “When the iqama is given for the dawn prayer, perform tawaf on your camel while the people are praying.” She did so and did not pray until she had gone out. The wording found in Ibn Khuzayma’s version from Malik, “…while he was reciting in the night (‘isha) prayer,” is anomalous (shadh). It is transmitted only by Ibn Luhay‘a, whose solitary reports are not relied upon—let alone when they conflict with others. Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar clarifies this in Fath al-Bari (2/201); whoever wishes may consult it. (1) This is likewise from the hadith of Jabir b. Samurah. Muslim (2/40), al-Bayhaqi (2/389), Ahmad (5/91, 102, 103, 105), and al-Tabarani in al-Kabir all record it, via Zaydah and Zuhayr—this wording is Zuhayr’s—from Simak, who said: “I asked Jabir b. Samurah about the Prophet’s prayer. He replied, ‘He used to keep the prayer light and did not pray like these people.’ He then informed me that the Messenger of Allah would recite in the Fajr prayer: Qaf. wa-l-Qurani l-majid (Qaf. By the glorious Quran) and similar passages.” (The report is cited together with the next one in Irwa al-Ghalil, no. 345.) Supporting narrations include the report of Umm Hisham bt. Haritha b. al-Nu‘man, who said: “I learned Qaf. wa-l-Qurani l-majid only from hearing the Messenger of Allah; he used to recite it in the dawn prayer.”
