Asl Sifat Salat al-NabiNasir al-Din al-Albani

He would at times combine several of the Seven Lengthy Surahs—such as al-Baqarah, al-Nisāʾ, and Āl ʿImrān—reciting them in a single rakʿah of the night prayer, as will be explained later (1).

He also said, “The best prayer is the one whose standing is long.” (2)

Al-Tabarani also records the report in al-Kabir (10/41) through two separate chains, and its isnad is robust. The hadith is further supported by a corroborating narration from Aishah: “The Messenger of Allah used to pair two surahs from the mufassal.” It is transmitted by Abu Dawud (1/203), al-Bayhaqi (2/60), and Ahmad (6/218) via al-Jurayri from Abdullah ibn Shaqiq, on her authority. This chain is sound according to Muslim’s criterion, and Ibn Khuzaymah likewise declared it sahih (cited in Fath, 2/207). Al-Tayalisi (p. 218) relates the same wording from al-Salt ibn Dinar, while al-Tahawi, Ahmad (6/171, 204), and al-Hakim (1/265) relate it from Kahmas ibn al-Hasan; both narrators transmit it from Abdullah ibn Shaqiq. Ahmad’s isnad is also authentic by Muslim’s standard. Al-Hakim’s statement that it meets the joint standard of al-Bukhari and Muslim is a slip—or a case of leniency—for al-Bukhari mentions Abdullah ibn Shaqiq in his Sahih only in a suspended (muallaq) form. (1) See the section “His ﷺ Recitation in the Night Prayer,” God willing. (2) This wording is reported from Jabir. Muslim (2/175) records it through Ibn Jurayj, from Abu al-Zubayr, from him, with the wording:
