“This isnad is sahih.”
I comment: So he said, yet the chain is in fact broken, for ʿAbd al-Jabbar never heard from his father, as noted above.
3) Ahmad (4/318) reports: Aswad b. ʿAmir told us; Sharik narrated from Abu Ishaq, from ʿAlqamah b. Waʾil, from his father who said: “I heard the Prophet ﷺ pronounce Amin aloud.” Al-Bayhaqi also records it, and the isnad is hasan.
The second hadith: from Abu Hurayrah, transmitted through two routes.
1) Bishr b. Rafiʿ → Abu ʿAbd Allah, a cousin of Abu Hurayrah → Abu Hurayrah, who said: “People have abandoned saying Amin. Whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited ghayri al-maghdubi ʿalayhim wala al-dallin (‘not of those who incurred wrath nor of the misguided’), he would say ‘Amin’, loud enough for those in the first row to hear, so that the mosque shook.”
Recorded by Abu Dawud and—using this wording—by Ibn Majah. Al-Hafiz Abu Zurʿah (2/268) judged its chain “good,” though it warrants scrutiny. Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar (3/350) remarks: “Bishr b. Rafiʿ is weak, and the cousin of Abu Hurayrah is said to be unknown, although Ibn Hibban declared him reliable.”
2) Ishaq b. Ibrahim al-Zubaydi → ʿAmr b. al-Harith → ʿAbd Allah b. Salim → al-Zubaydi, who said: al-Zuhri told me, from Abu Salamah and Saʿid, that Abu Hurayrah said: “When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished reciting Umm al-Quran (the Opening Chapter), he would raise his voice and say ‘Amin.’”
Recorded by al-Daraqutni, al-Hakim (1/223), and al-Bayhaqi. Al-Daraqutni calls the isnad hasan, whereas al-Hakim says:
