Abrogation of Reciting Behind the Imam in Audible Prayers
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had previously permitted the congregants to recite it behind the imam during the audible prayers. On one occasion, while leading the dawn prayer, he was reciting and the recitation became heavy for him. When he finished, he said:
“Perhaps you are reciting behind your imam?” We replied, “Yes, O Messenger of Allah, but softly and hurriedly.”(1) He said, “Do not do that—except that each of you may recite the Opening of the Book, for there is no prayer for the one who does not recite it.”(2)
(1) With a doubled dhad and with tanwin. Al-Khattabi (1/205) explains: “al-hadhh is the rapid, continuous recitation that follows one verse after another in quick succession.”

It was transmitted by al-Bukhari in Juz al-Qiraʾa (7, 22); Abu Dawud (1/131); al-Tirmidhi (2/116–117); al-Tahawi (1/127); al-Daraqutni (120); al-Hakim (1/238); al-Tabarani in al-Saghir (134); al-Bayhaqi (2/164); Ahmad (5/313, 316, 322); and Ibn Hazm in al-Muhalla (3/236), all through the line of transmission: Muhammad ibn Ishaq → Mak-hul → Mahmud ibn al-Rabiʿ → ʿUbadah ibn al-Samit, who said, “We were standing behind the Messenger of Allah in the dawn prayer and he recited …”
The chain is sound and free of objection, as al-Khattabi notes in al-Maʿalim (1/205), for Ibn Ishaq explicitly stated his hearing in the versions of Ahmad and al-Daraqutni. Al-Daraqutni declared, “This isnad is hasan.” Al-Bayhaqi raised a reservation, while al-Tirmidhi judged it “hasan,” and al-Hakim
نَسْخُ القراءة ِوراءَ الإمام في الجهرية
وكان ﷺ قد أجاز للمؤتمين أن يقرؤوا بها وراء الإمام في الصلاة
الجهرية؛ حيث كان في صلاة الفجر، فقرأ، فثقلت عليه القراءة، فلما
فرغ؛ قال:
" لعلكم تقرؤون خلف إمامكم؟ ". قلنا: نعم؛ هذّاً (١) يا رسول الله! قال:
" لا تفعلوا؛ إلا [أن يقرأ أحدكم] بـ: ﴿فاتحة الكتاب﴾ ؛ فإنه لا صلاة
لمن لم يقرأ بها " (٢) .
(١) بتشديد الذّال وتنوينها. قال الخطابي (١/٢٠٥) :
" والهذّ: سرد القراءة، ومداركتها في سرعة واستعجال ".

وابن حزم في " المحلى " (٣/٢٣٦) من طرق عن محمد بن إسحاق عن مكحول عن
محمود بن الربيع عن عبادة بن الصامت قال:
كنا خلف رسول الله ﷺ في صلاة الفجر؛ فقرأ ... الحديث.
وهذا إسناد جيد لا مطعن فيه - كما قال الخطابي في " المعالم " (١/٢٠٥) -؛ فقد
صرح ابن إسحاق بالتحديث في رواية لأحمد، والدارقطني وقال:
" هذا إسناد حسن ". وأعله البيهقي. وقال الترمذي:
