Asl Sifat Salat al-NabiNasir al-Din al-Albani

…

he would say, after the opening takbir and after reciting: “Wajjhattu wajhi lilladhi fatar as-samawati wa-l-ard, hanifan musliman…” (“I have turned my face toward the One who originated the heavens and the earth, in pure submission…”): “Allahumma laka al-hamd…” (“O Allah, to You belongs all praise…”)—and so on. Regarding Junada, Ibn Hajar states in al-Taqrib: “Reliable, though he makes mistakes.” All the remaining transmitters are narrators used by Muslim, except al-Tabarani’s shaykh, Abd al-Rahman ibn Salm al-Razi; I found no biographical entry for him. The inclusion of “Wajjhattu wajhi…” in this report is unusual and is probably one of Junada’s errors. His wording “after the takbir” is, however, corroborated. Abu Awana (2/301), Abu Dawud, Ibn Nasr in Qiyam al-Layl (44), and al-Tabarani in al-Kabir transmit it through Imran al-Qasir, from Qays ibn Saad, who said that Tawus related: during the tahajjud prayer the Prophet would say—after uttering “Allahu akbar”—… and he conveyed its meaning. The chain is sound according to Muslim’s criterion. Muslim himself recorded it in his Sahih by this route but omitted the wording, referring back to the previous narration. Ibn Nasr, on the other hand, transmitted it from a teacher of Muslim and supplied the full text. Al-Bukhari likewise gives the full wording in one of his versions. (*) Shaykh al-Albani later declared the isnad in al-Tabarani authentic; see p. 487 and al-Silsilah al-Sahihah 7/453, among other places.
