(6) This point is affirmed by the hadith of Abu Saʿid mentioned earlier in the versions of Abu Dawud, al-Tahawi, and others. Its chain is sound (hasan), as we clarified on p. 252. (7) It is also related from Ibn ʿUmar, who said: “While we were praying with the Messenger of Allah, a man in the congregation exclaimed …” – he narrated the words – “so the Messenger of Allah said: ‘I was amazed at it; the gates of heaven have been opened for it.’” Ibn ʿUmar added, “From the moment I heard the Messenger of Allah say that, I have never neglected them.” • Muslim recorded it (2/99), likewise al-Nasai (1/141) and al-Tirmidhi (2/279, Bulaq ed.), the last of whom declared it authentic, through Ismaʿil ibn ʿUlayyah → Hajjaj ibn Abi ʿUthman → Abu al-Zubayr → ʿAwn ibn ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿUtbah → Ibn ʿUmar. • Abu ʿAwanah (2/100) likewise narrated it from Yazid ibn Zurayʿ, who reported it from Hajjaj with the same chain. • Al-Nasai and Abu ʿAwanah (2/100) also transmitted it through ʿAmr ibn Murrah → ʿAwn with similar wording; this chain is sahih and therefore provides strong corroboration for Abu al-Zubayr’s version. • Abu Nuʿaym, in Akhbar Asbahan (1/210), reported it from Jubayr ibn Mutʿim, who heard the Prophet say it during a voluntary prayer. • It has an additional supporting report from ʿAbd Allah ibn Abi Awfa, who said:
