It also has corroborating reports:
Among them is the hadith of Malik b. al-Huwayrith: the Messenger of Allah used, when he prayed, to raise his hands level with his ears when he pronounced the takbir, when he was about to bow, and when he lifted his head from bowing. Al-Nasai (1/140) records it with a sound chain: Muhammad b. Abd al-Ala—Khalid—Shuʿba—from Qatada, who said: I heard Nasr b. Asim relate it from him. This isnad meets Muslim’s criterion. Muslim himself places it in his Sahih (2/7), and so does Ahmad (5/53), through two routes from Qatada with the wording: “When he said the takbir he raised his hands,” which implies that the takbir precedes the raising. Ahmad also transmits, through Yahya b. Saʿid from Shuʿba, the wording: “He would raise his hands when he entered the prayer,” and al-Darimi (1/285) gives a similar version. Hafs b. Amr reports from Shuʿba: “…when he pronounced the takbir,” as in Abu Dawud (1/119). Muslim offers another chain that will be cited shortly.
Another supporting narration is from Wail b. Hujr: he saw the Prophet raise his hands level with his ears when he entered the prayer and pronounced the takbir, then wrap himself in his cloak and place his right hand on his left. When he wished to bow he drew his hands out of the cloak, raised them, pronounced the takbir and bowed; when he said “samiʿa Allahu liman ḥamidah” he raised his hands again, and when he prostrated he prostrated between his palms.
