Asl Sifat Salat al-NabiNasir al-Din al-Albani

“When any of you rises to pray, let him wrap an izār around his waist and drape a ridāʾ over his shoulders” (1).
He even forbade a man to pray wearing only trousers with no ridāʾ on top (2).
This injunction, however, concerns only the one who is able to acquire a ridāʾ (3), for the Prophet ﷺ also said:

“When any of you prays, let him wear his two garments, for Allah is most deserving that one adorn himself before Him. If he cannot find two garments, then let him pray in his izār alone, and let none of you envelop himself in prayer with an ishtimāl (wrapping oneself completely in a single cloth)” (4).

(1) Reported by al-Tahawi (1/221) and al-Bayhaqi (2/235) through the isnad of ʿUbayd Allah b. Muʿadh—his father—Shuʿbah—Tawbah al-ʿAnbari, who heard Nafiʿ transmit it from Ibn ʿUmar as a marfuʿ narration. The chain is sound and fulfills the conditions of the two Shaykhs (al-Bukhari and Muslim). (2) Reported by Abu Dawud (1/103), al-Tahawi (1/224), al-Hakim (1/250), and—via al-Hakim—by al-Bayhaqi (2/236), from Abu al-Munib, from ʿAbd Allah b. Buraydah, from his father: “He forbade praying in a blanket without throwing part of it over the shoulders, and he forbade a man to pray …” etc. The isnad is hasan. Al-Hakim’s—and likewise al-Dhahabi’s—claim that it is “sahih according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs” is erroneous, for Abu al-Munib (his name is ʿUbayd Allah b. ʿAbd Allah al-ʿAtaki) is not one of their narrators; he is reliable but makes mistakes, as noted in al-Taqrib. (3) Al-Tahawi comments: “In our view, this ruling applies when a person has another garment; if he has nothing else, there is no harm in praying in it, just as there is no harm in wrapping a small cloth around oneself as an izar.” I say: the forthcoming hadiths support this interpretation. (4) Al-Khattabi states in Maʿalim al-sunan (1/178):
