Ibn Majah (no. 437) also narrated it through another chain from Abu Hurayrah, but that isnad includes Abd Allah b. Saʿid b. Abi Saʿid al-Maqburi, who is weak.
A corroborating report comes from Abu Bakrah with the wording: “Rather, let him place them between his knees.”
Al-Tabarani recorded this in al-Kabir; the chain there contains Ziyad al-Jassas, whom Ibn Maʿin and others declared unreliable, although Ibn Hibban listed him among the trustworthy narrators, as noted in Majmaʿ (2/55).
