Asl Sifat Salat al-NabiNasir al-Din al-Albani
  1. He heard another man reciting in his tashahhud:

“O Allah! I ask You—for to You belong all praise; there is no deity but You; 1 [You alone, without partner]; 2 [the Bestower of favors]; 3 [O] Originator of the heavens and the earth! O Possessor of majesty and honor! O Ever-Living, O Self-Sustaining! 4 [Indeed I ask You] 5 [for Paradise, and I seek refuge in You from the Fire].”

6 [The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) then said to his Companions:]

(9) The hadith is also transmitted on the authority of Anas. It was recorded by Abu Dawud (1/234); al-Nasa’i (1/191); al-Hakim (1/503); al-Tahawi in Sharh Mushkil al-Athar (1/62); Ibn Mandah in Kitab al-Tawhid (44/2 and 70/1-2 = pp. 109/233 and 145/341); al-Diya’ al-Maqdisi in al-Mukhtara; and Ahmad (3/158, 245). All of them relate it through the chain: Khalaf ibn Khalifah—Hafs, the nephew of Anas ibn Malik—from Anas, who said: “I was sitting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while a man was standing in prayer. When the man bowed, prostrated, and finished the tashahhud, he supplicated and said …,” whereupon the narrator gives the invocation in full. Al-Hakim declared the isnad “sound according to Muslim’s criteria,” and al-Dhahabi concurred; their judgment is correct. Ibn Hibban likewise placed it in his Sahih (cited in al-Targhib, 2/274), and al-Bukhari reproduced an abridged version in al-Adab al-Mufrad (no. 103). The second additional phrase occurs in the versions of Abu Dawud, al-Nasa’i, Ibn Mandah, and Ahmad; one of Ahmad’s wordings contains the phrase al-hannan (the Most Tender). The third extra phrase appears in a narration of Ahmad and in al-Bukhari. The fourth is found in those two as well, and also in al-Nasa’i and in Ibn Mandah’s second report. The fifth is reported by al-Nasa’i and Ahmad, with parts of it likewise in al-Bukhari. This hadith has three independent chains of transmission; the foregoing is one of them.
