Asl Sifat Salat al-NabiNasir al-Din al-Albani
  1. The Messenger of Allah — may Allah bless him and grant him peace — taught Abu Bakr al-Ṣiddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) to say:
Al-Hakim also recorded it (1/523–524, 526) through the routes of Shuʿbah and al-Aʿmash, both from Abu Ishaq, and remarked: “Sound, provided it is free of interruption.” Al-Dhahabi agreed. In fact the isnad is not free of interruption, for Abu ʿUbaydah never heard directly from his father, as noted repeatedly. Al-Nasaʾi likewise included the hadith in al-Yawm wa’l-Laylah (cited in Takhrij al-Ihyaʾ, 1/288). (5) The report properly belongs to the Musnad of Abu Bakr himself. It is transmitted by ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿAmr from him: Abu Bakr said to the Messenger of Allah, “Teach me a supplication I may recite in my prayer.” He replied, “Say: …,” and mentioned it. Al-Bukhari (2/254), Muslim (8/74), al-Nasaʾi (1/192), al-Tirmidhi (2/268, Bulaq ed.), and al-Bayhaqi (2/154) all record it with the chain: Qutaybah ibn Saʿid → al-Layth → Yazid ibn Abi Ḥabib → Abu’l-Khayr → ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿAmr. Al-Tirmidhi judged it “hasan sahih.” Al-Bukhari later cited it again (11/110) through ʿAbd Allah ibn Yusuf; Ibn Majah (2/431) through Muhammad ibn Rumḥ; al-Bayhaqi through Yahya ibn Bukayr; and Ahmad (1/3, 7) through Hashim ibn al-Qasim and Ḥajjaj—all five reporting from al-Layth via the same chain. Muslim also related it through Muhammad ibn Rumḥ, but with the wording kabiran (“greatly”) instead of kathiran (“abundantly”). In my view this wording is anomalous, for it contradicts the version preserved by the majority—even Muhammad ibn Rumḥ’s own transmission in Ibn Majah. Further evidence is that al-Bukhari cites the hadith (13/320) and in al-Adab al-Mufrad (103), and Muslim through the route of ʿAmr ibn al-Harith from Yazid ibn Abi Ḥabib, that he
